Process stages:
Billet Heating: A round steel billet is heated to a suitable temperature, typically above 1000°C.
Piercing: The hot billet is pierced with a mandrel to create the internal cavity, forming a thick-walled rough tube.
Rolling and Extrusion: The rough tube is passed through a series of rolls to reduce the outer diameter and wall thickness to the desired dimensions.
Sizing and Cooling: The pipe is finalized to its required size and then allowed to cool. During cooling, an oxide layer (“mill scale”) forms on its surface.

Cold drawing: The tube is drawn through a die of smaller diameter using a drawing machine. This cold plastic deformation reduces the diameter and wall thickness while also strengthening the material.
Heat treatment (Annealing): To eliminate internal stresses and improve mechanical properties, the pipes are frequently annealed.
Finishing & inspection: The process continues with straightening, cutting, and rigorous hydrostatic testing to ensure high quality.
